There's just something special...something different about Provena Mercy Medical Center.SUMMARY The Peripheral Vascular/Ultrasound Technologist performs all peripheral vascular and ultrasound procedures at a level not requiring supervision. The PV/US Technologist must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in Ultrasound. The PV/US Technologist must demonstrate knowledge of the changes of growth and development over one's life span and possess the ability to assess and interpret data that is reflective of the patient's physical and mental needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment with ingenuity and initiative. Assumes responsibility for designated assignments and work area. Work performed of supervised is supported by the Mission Statement of Provena Health.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESPatient Care
Deliver quality patient care and maintain an awareness of the patient's right to privacy, confidentiality of the medical record, and any information regarding the patient.
Attend required in-service classes, maintain hospital and state educational requirements.
Identify learning needs and contacts the supervisor.
Select and operate all Peripheral Vascular, Ultrasound and accessory equipment as is competent to level.
Properly assess the patient utilizing departmental policies and procedures.
Adhere to hospital and departmental policies, procedures and protocols.
Demonstrate appropriate and useful interpersonal relations and communication.
Demonstrate continuous self-improvement through knowledge gained in clinical experience, and participates in student training. Departmental Support
Participate in team building and recognizes when personal feelings interfere with relationships.
Make effective contributions to the department and the hospital.
Transport patients as needed.
Assist the clerical personnel with filing, record keeping and charging.
Adhere to the work schedule and take calls.
Willing to work whenever necessary, volunteers for extra duties, and schedules time off in advance through the supervisor.
Assess patients ranging from Neonatal to Geriatric.
Comply with institutional and departmental dress code policies.
Assume responsibilities for a sterile, stocked and sanitary working environment. Documentation
Check physician orders and relate those orders to other diagnostic procedures relative to that patient.
Accountable for documentation of patient care and complete accurate histories.
Supply the supervisor with daily shift reports. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Education and/or Experience Graduate of an approved school of Medical Sonography or Graduate of an approved school of Radiological Technology and registered with ARRT or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI); One-year clinical experience in Ultrasound and Peripheral Vascular exam.Computer SkillsMeditechCertificates, Licenses, Registrations RDMS registered or eligible or CCI registered or eligible; CPR certification required.
